Nevith Condes Jaramillo, 42, who ran a local news site, El Observatorio del Sur, was stabbed to death on August 24 at his home in Tejupilco municipality about 75 miles from Mexico City. Condes had published stories about corruption in the local government and had received threats. He has requested for federal protection. The state prosecutor has said that the death is being investigated as a homicide.
