This online seminar is run by IPI’s Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU) fund for cross-border watchdog reporting.

Are you an investigative journalist in Europe? Are you interested in teaming up with journalists in other countries to conduct an ambitious investigation in the public interest?

Then IPI’s IJ4EU fund is for you.

But how do you refine your investigation idea, find journalists to collaborate with and boost your chances of getting funding? This half-day masterclass will give you the answers.

The free online event is run by Arena for Journalism in Europe, a partner in the IJ4EU consortium led by IPI. It takes place six weeks before the next deadline for applications for IJ4EU funding, giving you enough time to prepare a killer proposal.

In this half-day seminar, we will walk through the particularities of the cross-border, collaborative investigation process with a focus on selecting a topic and angle, finding your team and preparing a work plan.

The overall purpose of the work plan is to get ready for your investigation — including an application for a work grant.

The online masterclass is free to attend.

It will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 from 9:30 to 12:30 CET.

Registration is open until two days before the masterclass.

The seminar will be run by Trine Smistrup, journalism trainer and director of Arena’s annual Dataharvest – The European Investigative Journalism Conference, and Hazel Sheffield, Arena’s networks coordinator.
