Norma Sarabia, a correspondent for the newspaper Tabasco Hoy in Huimanguillo in the state of Tabasco, was gunned down by two unidentified assailants on June 11 as she approached her home. According to her newspaper staff, Norma had expressed fear of getting attacked because of her work in the area of Chontalpa, which is dominated by organized crime groups. She is the sixth journalist to be killed in Mexico in 2019. Police have said they are investigating the murder.
