Maximino Rodriguez Palacios was shot to death in his vehicle on April 14, 2017 in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur. Rodriguez covered the police beat for local online portal Colectivo Pericu. In early June 2017, authorities said they had arrested three men in connection with the killing. They declined to release a motive, but said that they had established that the killing was related to Rodriguez’s work.
