Filipino radio broadcaster Edmund Sestoso was fatally shot on April 30, 2018, in the central Philippines province of Negros Oriental. Sestoso died from his wounds on May 1. Sestoso hosted his own news and current affairs program, and was also known as the former chairman of the National Union of Journalists in Dumaguete City. On April 30, Sestoso was riding a three-wheeled taxi, when unidentified gunmen on motorcycles approached him and shot him several times. According to reports, Sestoso’s wife said the journalist had received threats before his killing. The police is investigating the motive behind the murder.
