Ukrainian journalist injured in shelling

Ukrainian journalist and war correspondent from the TV channel TSN, Andriy Tsaplienko, was mildly injured and suffered a small shrapnel wound after his team were caught near shelling. His team had been filming near the humanitarian corridor in Chernihiv when they were caught under shelling by the Russian military forces. Tsaplienko wrote on his Facebook page that he had a “small shrapnel wound” in his thigh and that he had received medical attention but was in a stable condition. He was he was in the hospital and was “very lucky.” Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Tsaplienko had covered events related to the war. At the time, he had been in a convoy with employees from the English-language channel TRT World from Turkey. The details of the incident were reported by Dmitry Komarov, a journalist, photographer and host of the World Inside Out program on Instagram, who had been there at the time. According to the journalists, they had been standing near the car and preparing to film when they spotted a drone. The journalists said they did not have time to hide in the shelter so they fell to the ground near the car. After the explosions, they managed to escape the area and seek medical attention for Tsaplienko.
