On 5 December 2022, the independent Russian portal Sakh.com, which publishes local news on the island of Sakhalin, announced it was ceasing publication after authorities blocked access to a new website created by the media collective. Journalists at Sakh.com said it was impossible to continue their work due to administrative restrictions.

According to Tayga.Info, an independent regional news outlet for Siberia, local pro-war activists on Sakhalin island had demanded from authorities that they take measures against Sakh.com for alleged “discreditation” of the Russian Armed Forces. Following this, access to the website was first blocked in Russia in August. Journalists at the media then created a new site, which was again blocked by Roskomnadzor, Russia’s telecommunications watchdog, in November.
