On 11 December 2023, it was reported that Russian internet providers in Crimea had blocked access to all remaining Ukrainian online radio stations, some of which were still available until recently. The news was reported by the office of the Ukrainian president’s representative in Crimea, a government structure based in Kyiv and tasked with monitoring the situation on the peninsula. According to Ukrainian authorities, online radio stations focused in general on politics were progressively blocked in Crimea following Russia’s full-scale invasion, however some Ukrainian stations (mainly those focused on music), remained available. All remaining radio stations were blocked at the beginning of December, the Crimea representatives office said in a publication on Facebook. No information was available as to the number of radio stations subject to the recent blocks or on the Russian occupying authorities responsible for these decisions.
