Russian armed forces shelled the editorial office of a local outlet, Zorya, operating in Zolochiv village, Kharkiv region. No one was injured during the shelling, according to a report by the Ukrainian National Union of Journalists (NUJU). The editorial office had been previously affected by shelling in early April. Zorya’s chief editor, Vasily Miroshnik said he believed the office was being deliberately targeted, as other buildings in the village, including the police department and administrative office buildings. The outlet stopped printing after February 24 and instead began disseminating information through Facebook, as well as airing live broadcasts on the platform detaining military actions in the area. Miroshnik added that pro-Russian locals had repeatedly sent complaints to Facebook, seeking to block the outlet’s page. In May 2022, the Russian state news agency RIA Novosti published a video where a man presented himself as a Ukrainian refugee and accused Miroshnik and Zorya of spreading false information about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
