On 22 September 2022, Russian forces attempted to strike a TV tower in Zaporizhia by firing a series of missiles on the city. According to local authorities, the tower itself was not damaged, but missiles landed in the area, blasting windows at a television center operating nearby. This forced media workers at the local office of Suspilne, Ukraine’s public broadcaster, to work remotely until the damage was repaired.
In October, Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne asked the European Court of Human Rights to investigate nine attacks on TV towers by Russian forces in Ukraine, as well as two cases of jamming radio and TV signal, and one hacker attack on Ukraine’s public television archives.
