On May 16, 2024, Dokurugu Abubakar Ndeeya, a journalist with Zaa Multimedia, was attacked by individuals thought to be New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters in Ghana’s Northern Region. The assault took place while he was covering a confrontation between the supposed NPP supporters and police officers. The local chapter of the Ghana Journalists Association condemned the assault and called on the regional police directorate to conduct an investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
