On November 27, 2023, sympathizers of the political party Union pour la Nation (UNC) attacked journalist Jerry Lombo Alauwa, who works with the online outlet Infos24.cd, in Kisangani, northeast DRC. Lombo was attacked while he was covering the activities of the presidential candidate Moise Katumbi Chapwe of the political party Ensemble Pour la République (EPR). In a letter submitted to the UNC-Tshopo provincial committee, Alauwa denounced the attack and demanded reparations from the party, which is a member of the Sacred Union of the Nation, the ruling political coalition in DRC.
