Police arrest and detain journalists for protesting against press freedom abuses

On February 13, in Mbandaka, the capital of Équateur province in the DRC, at least 20 journalists were arrested and briefly detained by the security forces before being released. The local press defense group OLPA stated that the arrests occurred during a gathering to commemorate International Radio Day and to protest against the abuses of journalists and media workers by security forces in the province.
