On the night of 12 March 2024, the website of the news aggregator FREEDОМ, a Ukrainian state-sponsored broadcasting service, was targeted in a major DDoS attack.

“The attack, evidently orchestrated by Russian hackers, occurred in several waves in the evening and at night. DDoS requests came from the territories of the United States, Colombia, Brazil, India, Argentina and the Netherlands,” FREEDOM’s press service noted.

The state-owned broadcaster said that technical specialists promptly resolved the issues created by the attack and that FREEDОМ continued its operations. Access was however restricted from the countries in which the attack originated, as reported by the Institute of Mass Information (IMI), a Ukrainian press freedom group.

FREEDOM was previously targeted In January, when as a result of a large-scale cyber attack the website of the state-sponsored broadcaster temporarily went offline.
