The Svetlogorsk city court declared that the list of Russian soldiers who died in Ukraine, published by the Pskov-based media outlet 60.RU, was prohibited for publication. The Pskov edition 60.RU had collected information about the dead soldier from open sources. However, in its ruling the court decided that such information “belongs to state secrets, the disclosure of which may result in criminal liability.” The list of the dead has been removed from the site. The ruling forced several other publications which are part of the Network of City Portals media group – including 60.RU, 74.RU and NGS.RU, among others – to delete their ‘pages of remembrance’ containing the names of Russian soldiers who have died in Ukraine.
