Russian security forces summoned and interrogated the editor-in-chief of the news website Dovod, Kirill Ishutin, over a picture of graffiti about censorship that the platform had published. The image was of protest graffiti on a local bridge in the Russian city of Vladimir which said: “No <word forbidden by Roskomnadzor>”. The text referred to Russia’s state internet and communications regulator, which has censored reporting on the Ukraine war. Authorities painted over the graffiti within two hours and the individuals who painted it was arrested and charged with vandalism. However, Ishutin was called to the police station and questioned for six hours. His mobile phone, laptop and other equipment was confiscated. The home of the news outlet’s 17-year-old correspondent Evgenyin Sautin was also searched by police, who confiscated his work laptop. Dovod had been the first media outlet to report the news and share the image. According to a report by Dovod, Ishutin refused to speak to police or answer questions. He was finally released after his lawyer arrived at the police station. The arrest was carried out under a criminal investigation into the graffiti.
