On 10 April 2022, an Orthodox church parishioner in Chernivtsi region threatened journalist Halyna Yeremytsya, who was reporting on the institution’s situation. At this time, a conflict over control over the church in the village of Mykhalcha was developing between supporters of the independent Orthodox Church of Ukraine, on one hand, and, on the other, supporters of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Church.

Yeremytsya, who was filming the conflict, said a parishioner of the Russia-affiliated community first threatened to break her filming material, and later picked up a brick at two instances, threatening to throw it at the journalist. Yeremytsya said over 100 police officers were present, but did not react. She later filed a complaint with police against the parishioner who threatened her. Police accepted her complaint, but closed the case on 22 December.
