The general producer of TVK Krasnoyarsk, Vadim Vostrov, was fined 40,000 rubles for “discrediting” the Russian armed forces. The cause of the fine was a Telegram post by the producer where he cited an article by journalist and sociologist Shura Burtin which attempted to examine the reasons for public support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Vostrov said he had not discredited the army and condemned the fine. He said he planned to appeal the measure in court. The fine was administered under Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation – an amendment passed after the country’s invasion of Ukraine. Those judged to have committed the offence face an administrative fine of 30 to 50 thousand rubles, with those repeatedly disseminating information deemed to be discrediting facing imprisonment for up to three years.
