On January 6, 2024, journalists and technicians of Radio Communautaire de Mangina were arrested and detained by elements of the DRC army. Katembo Maghtse Shukrani, Yves Romaric Baraka, Sharo Mbonga, Daniel Kambale Mbayahi and Glads Kiro, were detained and accused of having broadcasted on December 16, 2023, a program entitled “Révélation du peuple”, which the military authorities claimed incited the public to revolt and defy the military authorities. Though the media workers were released, the military seized and confiscated their radio equipment. The equipment was restored on April 7, after 90 days of confiscation, allowing the radio station to resume its broadcasting activities.
