On 23 August 2022, Ukrainian state broadcaster Suspilne said that it was again under cyber-attack from unidentified Russian hackers, who attempted to take the broadcaster off air. Suspilne condemned the attack, which it said had attempted to jam the signal of its channels on the AMOS satellite. The channel stated that interference originated from the territory of Russia by special radio-electronic means. The attack was reported by Dmytro Gruzynskyi, the Director of Organization and Development of Public Broadcasting Networks. “Since the beginning of the Russian Federation’s full-scale war against Ukraine, we have been recording regular attempts to damage the broadcasting of Suspilne’s TV and radio programs, including on satellite”, he said. In March 2022, after the full-scale invasion by Russia began, there were multiple attempts to jam the signal of channels on the satellite. These were repelled, but Suspilne was forced to switch to a more secure backup satellite. AMOS is a series of Israeli communications satellites operated by Israel-based Spacecom.
