On October 18, journalist Abdirahman Adani appeared before the Office of the Attorney General, where he was interrogated for 30 minutes about a report. This followed the broadcasting of a report at Adani’s radio station on alleged tax collection by Al-Shabaab from people in the district Bakool region, in the southwest state of Somalia. He was denied the assistance of a lawyer during the interrogation. The Somali Journalists Syndicate (SJS) has condemned this move of the office of the attorney general as an attempt to intimidate the journalist.
