Edgar Joel Aguilar, a broadcast journalist who worked for Canal 6 as a reporter and as a presenter for Cablemar TV, was shot dead in a barber shop in La Entrada, Copán in western Honduras on on August 31. Aguilar had received death threats and approached authorities for protection as he was being followed by some unknown persons. He had been attacked in the past and news reports say that he had received several death threats.
