SEEMO condemns attack on Kosovo reporter

Journalist alleges beating by three men, one wielding a knife

The Vienna-based South East Europe Media Organisation (SEEMO), an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI), today condemned an attack on Kosovo journalist Halil Matoshi, who told Kosovo KTV that three unidentified men beat him on July 10.

Matoshi, a commentator with the daily newspaper Koha Ditore, was attacked as he returned to his home in Pristina. One of the aggressors reportedly pulled out a knife during the attack, but Matoshi managed to avoid serious injury.  He was nonetheless taken to a hospital for treatment.

SEEMO Secretary General Oliver Vujovic said: “I call on the police to find the perpetrators as soon as possible and bring them to justice.”

Police reportedly said they were investigating the assault.
