IPI announces election of new IPI Working Committee

At the IPI Constitutional Board Meeting on Tuesday, 24 May 2005, in Nairobi, Kenya, the following Board Members were elected to the IPI Working Committee:

Wilfred Kiboro, Group Chief Executive Officer, Nation Media Group, Kenya, was re-elected to a second term as Chairman of IPI.

The new IPI Vice Chairmen are:
Mark Damazer, Controller, BBC Radio 4 and BBC 7, UK;
Piotr Niemzcycki, Publisher, Gazeta Wyborcza, Poland; and
Simon Li, Assistant Managing Editor, Los Angeles Times, USA.

The IPI Executive Committee members are as follows:
Vuslat Dogan Sabanci, CEO, Hurriyet, Turkey;
So Whan Hyon, Editor, News and News internet daily; Former President & CEO, Yonhap News Agency, South Korea.

Former IPI Vice Chairman Sang Hoon Bang, President & Publisher, Chosun Ilbo, South Korea, was awarded an IPI Fellowship for his dedication to press freedom in his country.
