Unread Media is one of Mongolia’s leading digital-first media companies, built on a vision to empower the next generation through creative storytelling, progressive content, and a strong focus on business, technology, and startup culture. Over the past decade, Unread has become a key promoter of Mongolia’s entrepreneurial and innovation community, shaping a young, informed audience through high-quality journalism and original formats.
In 2021, Unread made a major strategic shift by expanding into broadcast media with the acquisition and launch of TenGer TV, now recognized as one of Mongolia’s most trusted nationwide newsrooms. With a mission to restore public trust in journalism, TenGer TV introduced a tech-first, independent, and data-driven approach to news production and distribution.
Continuing its multi-platform evolution, Unread launched Unread Today in 2024, a weekly print newspaper in both Mongolian and English. It has quickly become Mongolia’s most widely circulated newspaper, bringing curated news, analysis, and lifestyle content to readers across all 21 provinces.
During the IPI Virtual Newsroom Visit, Unread Media will share its pathway from digital publisher to a fully integrated media group across digital, TV, and print. The session will highlight Unread’s tech-first operational model, sustainable business strategies, and community-driven approach that supports young professionals, creators, and startups. Unread will discuss how platform diversification strengthened its impact, expanded reach, and built a resilient, youth-oriented media ecosystem in Mongolia.
During the Virtual Newsroom Visit, we will hear from:
- Unrdral Amarsaikhan, CEO, Unread
- Tushigt-Erdene Davaa-Ochir, Editor in Chief, Unread
What are the Virtual Newsroom Visits?
Virtual Newsroom Visits – a series of virtual live events, open to the wider public and promoted in our IPI members’ network, as well as the IPI’s Local News and Innovation Network. In the series, we invite experienced, innovative independent media organizations to share the BTS of their media business. These first-hand stories serve as a resource and inspiration for other journalism organizations striving to make a positive impact in their communities.
The broader goal is to level up the floor of the industry’s understanding and knowledge and create opportunities for exchange, helping our peers to do the best journalism for our communities. We now open the 5th season of IPI’s newsroom visits, organized as part of IPI’s Local News & Innovation Network, which hosts our Slack community for peer-to-peer discussion. Do you want to be a part of this series? Get in touch via innovation[at]ipi[dot]media.
