The International Press Institute will host a session at the upcoming Africa Investigative Journalism Conference at Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg, South Africa.

As press freedom threats and violations continue to evolve, journalists in Africa have become targets of coordinated disinformation campaigns. Through this session, IPI and partners discuss the sources, patterns, and narratives behind coordinated disinformation campaigns against journalists in Kenya, DRC, Ethiopia, and Ghana. IPI also takes this opportunity to introduce the Guide to Decoding Disinformation, a step-by-step approach to identifying the tactics, techniques, and procedures behind disinformation campaigns, which are increasingly being used to silence critical reporting and erode public trust in fact-based news.
