On March 8, 2021 we marked International Women’s Day in Turkey at the webinar “Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)” with leading Turkish feminists and journalists.
The meeting brought together leading women activists and journalists to talk about gender-based violence, including online harassment and abuse against female journalists and its impact on press freedom.
The meeting was hosted by MEP Nacho Sánchez Amor, the European Parliament’s rapporteur on Turkey, and organized in collaboration with the International Press Institute, the EU Turkey Forum, Human Rights Watch and the Committee to Protect Journalists.
