Winston Leonardo Cano Túnchez, a presenter at the local radio station La Jefa, was shot dead in front of a store where he was buying some cigarettes in the city of Escuintla on April 8, 2016. The unknown assailants fled the scene on a motorcycle. The motive for the shooting remains unclear.
