Ustaz Yunus was killed on July 11, 2014, when he was shot by armed men who stormed his home in Ungwan Dosa. Yunus was the General Manager of Kaduna-based weekly newspaper, New Democrat. Nothing was taken from his home after the shooting, leading his colleagues to believe that the killing was politically motivated.
