Rama Kashyap, a journalist for local TV channel Sadhna News, was killed on October 3 in Lakhimpur Kheri district of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. He was covering the visit of a federal minister when a mob attacked the car of the minister. Nine people were killed in the violence that began after four farmers were crushed to death under the minister’s car. The family of the journalist said in a complaint that Raman was conducting a video interview at an event when he saw three cars mowing down farmers and turned his camera to record the incident.
