Moftah Abu Zeid, editor-in-chief of the Brnieq newspaper, was shot to death while driving in the turbulent city of Benghazi on Monday, May 26. A security official said the gunmen fled the scene, the Daily Star reported, and other media reported there were no immediate suspects. Abu Zeid was know for his criticism of Islamic extremists operating in eastern Libya.
