On May 30, 2022, Frédéric Leclerc-Imhoff, a French cameraman and reporter with the national TV station BMFTV, was killed after an armoured evacuation vehicle came under fire from Russian shelling in Severodonetsk in eastern Ukraine. Leclerc-Imhoff had been covering the evacuation efforts in the Luhansk region, which at the time had become a focal point of fighting by Russian forces. According to BFMTV, Leclerc-Imhoff was following a humanitarian operation in an armoured vehicle when he was struck by shrapnel from a Russian grenade. It is still unclear whether or not the evacuation convoy was deliberately targeted.
