Al-Moutaz Bellah Ibrahim was killed by Islamic State militants in Tel Abyad, Syria, north of the city of Raqqa, on May 4, 2014. Ibrahim was a freelance reporter and correspondent for the independent Shaam News Network who covered Islamic State activities in Raqqa. According to news reports, he was kidnapped and detained in Raqqa for three months before he was executed by his captors.
