Ahmed Abu Hamza, Syria

Syrian journalist Ahmed Abu Hamza was killed in an artillery strike by Syrian government forces on Nov. 6, 2015. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reported that Abu Hamza, known to friends as “Software”, was filming a report for the local SMART News Agency about opposition fighters who had taken a strategic hilltop north of Hama at the time of his death.
