Ahmad Hallak, Syria

Ahmad Hallak, a correspondent with pro-opposition Syrian news website Al-Buraq Media, was killed in an airstrike on Aug. 2, 2016 west of Aleppo while travelling to cover a battle between opposition and pro-government forces. The head of Al-Buraq reportedly attributed the airstrike to Russian forces, but neither the Syrian nor Russian governments claimed responsibility.
