Zaporizhia deprived of Ukrainian broadcasting for nine hours after Russian attacks

On 16 January 2023, Ukrainian TV and radio broadcasting were cut off in Zaporizhia city and region following a series of Russian missile attacks. In total, the area was deprived of broadcasting for nine hours. While media infrastructure was not purposefully targeted, radio and TV signals were turned off due to lack of electricity as a result of the attacks.

On Monday, civilian, residential and industrial infrastructure in Zaporizhia was targeted, damaging 15 buildings in total. Local authorities reported that nine people were injured, including three children.
