At the request of the general prosecutor’s office, the group of the independent outlet OVD-Info on the Russian social network VKontakte was blocked. The block was apparently motivated by the distribution of materials containing “unreliable public information about the special military operation being conducted by the Russian Armed Forces, its form, methods of battle, as well as information about attacks on civilian infrastructure, numerous casualties amidst the Ukrainian civilian population and among the Russian Armed Forces, concerning general mobilization and other topics.” OVD-Info’s website was blocked on December 4, 2021, for allegedly spreading extremist and terrorist propaganda.
