Russia’s Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Communications (Roskomnadzor) demanded that Kazakh news website newtimes.kz, which has a sizeable Russian readership, remove all its news related to the war in Ukraine. According to Roskomnadzor’s warning, the information disseminated by newtimes.kz violated the information law of Russia and was false. Newtimes.kz reportedly complied with the demand and deleted the requested content. According to Azattyq, Newtimes.kz didn’t want to deprive its Russian audience of information.
