Censorship and regulation: Publication ban, take-down order or forced deletion, fine, administrative action
Russian internet and communications regulator Roskomnadzor sent a letter to the German host service provider of Ukrainian online news service citynews.net.ua. The letter demanded that the host block the access to the site which – according to them – violated the laws of Russian Federation. The website citynews.net.ua covers news from Eastern Ukraine’s Luhansk area and had already been blocked in Russia. In occupied Luhansk it was blocked in 2015. According to the editor-in-chief of the news website Danilo Ageev, the host did not take any action.
