A reporting crew from the Romanian public broadcaster TVR was caught near shelling while covering the fighting near the recently liberated city of Kupiansk, near Kharkiv. A shell exploded around 20-25 metres away from the crew as they were filming close to Ukrainian troops. They team had to take shelter on the ground close to a military truck until the firing was over. No one from the team was injured in the blast and they quickly left the area in their car when their Ukrainian guide confirmed it was safe. The TVR team consisted of reporter Alex Costache, camera operator Bogdan Militaru and driver Dorel Oancă. During the report, which was broadcasted on Romanian television, Costache said: “There is heavy shelling right now and the military told us to lie down on the ground. Now we have to go. They told us to leave immediately”. The crew had been covering the fighting between Ukrainian and Russian forces in Kupiansk, a key important logistical centre for the Russian troops which was recently re-taken by Ukraine’s counter-offensive.
