The Editor-in-Chief of the independent Altay newspaper Listok, Viktor Rau, was fined 120,000 rubles for calling for more Western sanctions against Russia in a Telegram post. In April, the newspaper was subject to the same charge and fined 300,000 rubles for a post on its Telegram channel urging that the names of all Russian bureaucrats supporting the war in Ukraine be sent to the Telegram channel “Nyurenberskii Protses 2.0,” which publishes the names of those supporting the war. Rau is currently living outside of Russia. Critics said the fines were aimed at pressuring the newspaper and its staff for their critical reporting on the war in Ukraine.
