Journalists suffer gunshot wounds near Irpin

Two journalists were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in came under attack near Irpin, outside Kyiv. U.S photojournalist Juan Arredondo suffered gunshot wounds and was rushed to hospital. He underwent surgery and was in a stable condition. Another journalist was reported to have been injured. The same attack killed American journalist and filmmaker Brent Renaud (see separate alert). Arredondo and the other journalists had been documenting refugees fleeing across a bridge from an area near Irpin. The car they were travelling in passed a checkpoint and was then shot at. Although the driver tried to turn around, the gunfire did not stop, and the journalists were hit. According to Kyiv police chief Andriy Nebutov, the vehicle was targeted by Russian soldiers.
