Journalist arrested for investigating police harassment, convicted of civil disobedience

A Mozambiquan journalist, Omardine Omar, working for Carta de Moçambique, a private owned news website, was arrested by the police and sentenced by acourt while investigating police harassment of vendors during the COVID-19 lockdown. He was arrested on June 25 and released three days later. On June 30 a court convicted him of civil disobedience. He has appealed against the conviction
