Censorship and regulation: Publication ban, take-down order or forced deletion, fine, administrative action
On 11 December 2024, the Supreme Court of Bashkortostan, an autonomous region of Russia, validated a fine against local journalist Raufa Rakhimova on grounds of “discrediting the Russian army”, Russian independent media reported. Rakhimova was fined 30 thousand rubles for two social media posts from February and March 2022 related to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, of undisclosed content. The journalist, who is the editor-in-chief of local online media outlet Prufy, said that she would appeal the decision in a court of cassation.
