Engineer at Ukrainian public broadcaster in Kherson abducted by Russian forces

Oleksiy Vorontsov, an engineer at the Kherson branch of the Ukrainian public broadcaster, Suspilne Kherson, was abducted from his apartment by Russian forces. Vorontsov disappeared on May 16, according to the company’s management, who were alerted by Oleksiy’s wife. It was not possible at the time to determine whether the kidnapping was related to Vorontsov’s profession or employment with the broadcaster. Suspilne Kherson filed a criminal offense report to the Joint Center for Coordination of Search and Release of Persons Illegally Imprisoned as a Result of Armed Aggression of the Russian Federation and to the District Prosecutor’s Office of Kherson region. Vorontsov was released by Russian forces one week later on May 23.
