Restrictions on access to information: Access restricted to officials / press conferences
Journalist Freddy Chicaiza of the newspaper La Hora en Tungurahua was prevented from reporting outside of a hospital in the province of Tungurahua. Chicaiza had sought to report from the hospital following news of an increase of COVID-19 patients. However, a hospital security guard blocked the journalist and told him he could not film there, despite the fact that Chicaiza was in a public place.
