A regional court in Altay fined the parent organization of the Shipunovsky district newspaper Stepnaya Nochi, the organization Regional Shipunovsk Informational Center, 300,000 rubles under the administrative offence of “discrediting” the Russian armed forces (Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). The fine stemmed from an advertisement published in the newspaper that contained the message “No to War.” The court refused appeals by the defendant to subject the advertisement to a linguistic analysis, claiming the title of the advertisement was clear.
