On November 21, businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his lawyer threatened journalist Rutendo Maraire, a journalist for Sources Media News Agency. The attack follows the publication of a story on the above-mentioned businessman. In WhatsApp messages, Chivayo insulted Maraire and threatened to make her life “very difficult”. The journalist reported the incident to the police. However, the news agency has since been served with a letter of demand by Chivayo’s lawyers for retraction and a publication of a statement of regret over the publication of the article titled: Is Chivhayo abusing Tagwirei’s associates? which Chivayo considered defamatory.
