Belarusian journalist charged for sending photos of Russian military vehicles

Journalist Yury Hantsarevich of Intex-Press, based in Baranavichy, was criminally charged for “facilitation of extremist activities” for photos and images he sent to independent media. Hantsarevich had taken photographs of Russian military aircraft at Baranavich military airport and a screenshot of windy.com weather website showing military equipment and sent them to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty Belarus editorial and independent media Zerkalo at the beginning of the war. The journalist was detained and remanded in prison. A week after his arrest, pro-government channels in Belarus aired a video of his interrogation. He faced up to six years in prison, according to the Belarusian Association of Journalists.
