The remains of journalist Julio César Moisés Mesco were found on Feb. 26, 2017 in the town of Ica, approximately 300 km south-east of Lima. Moisés, who reportedly died from strangulation, went missing on Feb. 11, 2017. His body reportedly was in such an advanced state of decomposition that his father could only identify him based on shoes found with the remains. The motive for the crime was not immediately known.
